Before taking up instrument repairs I studied Flute, Piano and Recorder at Trinity College of Music in London. After graduating I taught flute and recorder for county music services and private schools. I have also taken part in many performances in which I have played the solo part in concertos or performed recitals.
I have always been interested in finding out how things work and several years ago I decided on a change of direction. I have been involved in instrument repairs full-time now for nearly seven years. There is always more to learn and I enjoy solving new problems as well as continuously keeping up standards and endeavouring to improve.
I took over the shop in January 2009. Prior to that I trained in the woodwind department at MIR and with Trevor Head at the Malden School of Musical Instrument Repair. In 2008 I was accepted as a Professional Member of NAMIR – the National Association of Musical Instrument Repairers. I aim to continue to provide high quality repairs and good value for money. I am happy to re-pad instruments or to make the smallest alteration to get an instrument working again.
